Small cells.
Big questions. Real hope.

If the words "stem cell research" feel complicated, you are not alone. This page starts with the basics— in plain language, at your pace.

What is a stem cell?

Stem cells are cells with unusual flexibility. Depending on the type of stem cell and the environment around it, a stem cell may be able to make more cells like itself or develop into other kinds of cells. Researchers also study how stem cells communicate with the body and influence biological processes. That is one reason stem cells have become an important area of regenerative medicine research. They give scientists new ways to ask questions about how the body responds to injury, inflammation, disease, and recovery. What this does not mean: stem cells are not a guaranteed cure, and research is still ongoing. At AdiaMed, hope begins with learning — not with promises.

Stem Cell Types

There are several types of stem cells used in study applications

Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs)

Derived from bone marrow, fat tissue, or umbilical cord tissue, MSCs are widely used in orthopedics due to their anti-inflammatory and tissue-repair properties.

Hematopoietic Stem Cells (HSCs)

Found in bone marrow or blood, HSCs are used to support blood and immune system function.

Umbilical cord blood — explained simply.

The stem cells used in Adia Med research come from donated umbilical cord blood. Umbilical cord blood is the blood that remains in the umbilical cord after a baby is born. It contains cells that researchers have studied for decades because of their unique biological properties.

After birth — Umbilical cord blood is collected after delivery, from tissue that would otherwise no longer be needed for the birth itself.

Donated for use — The cells used by Adia Med come from donated umbilical cord blood. The research team can explain the sourcing, handling, and study-specific process in more detail.

Used in research — Researchers study these cells to better understand their safety, behavior, and possible effects in carefully defined clinical research settings.

Conditions We Target

Our stem cell studies are being explored and implemented for a growing number of clinical applications, including:

  • Orthopedic injuries (e.g., osteoarthritis, tendonitis, ligament tears)
  • Pain Management
  • Immune Reconstitution
  • Wound Repair
  • Blood Reconstitution and More

Each study is personalized, taking into account your medical history, diagnosis, and desired outcomes.
